strip lights. Everyone opt for LED strip lights because of their
many benefits and easy installation. Installation can be simple done as a DIY
project without using any advanced electronic equipment. However, one should
always consult an electrician before handling electricity.
Below are few steps that you can follow to install the
LED strip lights:
Material and Supplies: You can buy light strip of
required length from your nearby electronic store or online. You will also need
AC power cable, power adapter, scissors, wire stripper, toggle switch and
connecting wires. Use the power supply that is specifically designed for the
light strips such as 12V led lights.
- Prepare the power cable: Simply cut cables of required length to easily plug lights in the switch.
- Clear the wires: Use wire stripper to cut the outer moulding of the wire.
- Case Removal: Remove the outer casing of the cable and slide off the inside wires.
- Separate the Wires: Separate the twisted wires and untwist them to have an easy access.
- Identify the wires: One of the important steps is to know which wire goes to which part of the plug.
- Strip Wires: With the help of wire stripper, cut half-inch of the case of each wire.
- Soldering: Solder the three pairs of wires. Ensure that the soldering is done as clean as possible to prevent resistance. It also ensures extra safety of using the cable.
- Prepare DC connection: Take the wire from DC output of the power adapter and use switch and cable designs to plug to LED strips. Use a low voltage switch with a basic on and off option.
- Soldering Of Ground Wire: Attach the positive DC wire to switch. Also, solder the wire (ground) from the power adapter and LED strip plug.
- Attach LED lights and strips: Plug the connector to power plug on LED strip. Make sure that the short jumper wire is connected properly to the LED strip.
- Choose the location: With the help of mount tape, place the strips on the wall where you want to place the lights such as study wall or reception desk to add nice lighting decor.
